FORMATION OF INTELLECT AND SOUL

BEYOND STRUCTURED ENVIRONMENTS

This event is co-sponsored by Disciples on the Road, Peregrine Collective, and the Berkeley Institute

In this half-day event, we will explore how to take up one’s own intellectual and spiritual formation after periods of formal education and instruction have ended. How do we cultivate a sustained love of intellectual, spiritual, and moral development beyond highly structured environments? We will consider key elements of a nourishing intellectual and spiritual “diet,” and what it means to form – and be formed – amid the pressures of modern life.  Together, we will reflect on intellectual virtues and the conditions that allow learning and formation to remain alive.

This program is free and open to students and young professionals. Copies of the readings will be provided to all participants. Reading in advance is required for a shared conversation, though full comprehension of the texts is not expected.
